Oh my god!!!!!!

That really wasn't supposed to be the title for today but when we were returning to the hotel after our day of sightseeing there was a mass of human beings!!!! The underground and the shopping area was so crowded it was almost impossible to even walk. They say there are millions of Chinese people and tonight I believed it HA!

This morning we took a ride to the peak with a cable tram, yes it's all heights for us at the moment! The views of Hong Kong were amazing.  We also did  a walk called the Victoria peak trail, it was a 2,800 metre walk around the peak, so we are getting some exercise!!!!!

After taking the cable tram back down we walked some more  to the Man Mo Temple which the tourist guide book told us about, it is one of the Island's oldest dating back to the 1840s.  It was just full of incense fumes and of course people praying, a very peaceful place; apart from the tourists taking photos HA!HA!

We then took a din din tram to the western market, more shops full of dried fish.

Walk, walk, walk, then back to the underground where we found - oh my god!!!!!!!
After our happy hour at the hotel we took the shuttle bus to Kowloon to see the symphony of lights showing from the island of Hong Kong.
Then it was another stroll around and back to the hotel.

Second day in Hong Kong!

Although this is the second day it's really the first, yesterday was getting over the flight and jet lag.
Today was very sunny but COLD!
We took the underground for the very first time, it was clean, easy to understand and punctual, everything Roma isn't!! Well, understand in Rome isn't hard there are only 2 lines!!
We went to the Lantau Island.  That meant a cable car ride of 800 meters high.  We chose the glass bottom cable car and that in itself was an experience.

After getting off the cable car we visited the Po Lin Monastery and the Giant Buddha which was a climb of 250 steps, but well worth the shortness of breath.

We also took a tour bus to see the Tai O fishing village which was very characteristic, and smelly!!!!!

Back to the hotel and our free happy hour, which is not only drinks but food as well  So far we haven't had to worry about supper.

First evening in Hong Kong!

After our happy hour at the hotel we ventured out for a nice walk in the Lady Bazaar in Tung Choi Street.  I said to Pino this is New York Hong Kong style!!  There were lot's of food, clothes and gadget stalls all supposedly at cheap prices! By the time 10.30 pm arrived we were ready to head back to the hotel only to find we had trouble sleeping HA!

Browsing the area!!!!

After a nice shower we went to look at the area we are staying in.  Of course it's mainly shopping! We saw lot's of places to eat and a lot of pet shops - mmm makes one wonder HA!!!!!
We are now in the club class lounge having our evening happy hour. Really nice food and although we don't drink as much wine as we used to we have managed to finish off 1 bottle, well it is free, and hey, we are on holiday and it's Christmas!!!!
That's it till tomorrow!!!!!!

Arrived safe and sound!

Here we are in Hong Kong! The 11 hour flight went quite quickly, the service was very good.  It was 7 a.m. Hong Kong time on our arrival so we had lost a whole night. Landing was quite interesting, we were so close to the sea it was as if we were going to touch the water!
Luckily we were able to get into our room at the hotel straight away, so it was straight to bed for a few hours.  The weather, sorry to say, is wet today and a little chilly, but not as much as Roma.

Sun rising on our approach to Hong Kong!

December 15th day of departure!

9.45 a.m. Taxi arrives to take us to the airport.
We are finally on our way to our long awaited trip to Australia!

In the departure lounge at Fiumicino airport!
